At Shaker Press Books we also take custom orders for book repairs, portfolios, book boxes and slip cases. Orders are gladly accepted on a custom basis. Custom Slipcases
If you would like to preserve an old book or a book with sentimental value, have a handcrafted slipcase made for it. You will choose the cover paper and spine cloth.
Portfolios
This extra large custom portfolio shown below (18"x14") was made to preserve an original historic (1815) etching of the Battle of Waterloo.
Boxes
This custom made box displays a photograph of a customer's great-grandfather. Inside the box, preserved archivally for generations to come, is the great-grandfather's 1926 Purdue University yearbook.
The custom box below was designed to display and archivally preserve an extremely rare first edition of one of Martin Luther's sermon (1590). Embedded in a raised frame, the document can be removed by a gentle pull on the ribbon. Box closes for easy shelving.
Book Repair
Although repairing an old book is generally a lengthy and expensive process, many books are worth the time and expense. These two photos show the transformation a book can take with a 'before' and 'after' image.
